This time I am going to let the contest run for a month, and see if a few more entries don't come out of the woodwork!

Rules for this contest will be similar to the Killer Cab Contest. One entry per person, and your entry must be made during the contest period. You can enter anything that has stones as a primary decorative element and is meant for being carried on your person. No tiffany-style lamp shades, polished display pieces, windchimes etc. Pretty much everything else is fair game. Metalwork, beading, wire wraps, earplugs, bolo ties, belt buckles, even knives.

You must show photos of your piece before and after assembly. You do NOT have to have made every element of your creation, but you should state which pieces, if any, you made and which pieces you bought. If you made everything from scratch I am sure everyone would want to know that when casting their vote!

You can detail as much of the creation process as you like. I would love for these contests to also serve as sort of mini-tutorials.  acamerashot But no pressure! Before and after pics are all that is required!

OK folks, I'm going to stress here that I'm probably not entering this time - I'm working 7 days a week till the end of May and that means I'm losing my mind as we speak.  My studio time is very limited right now.   bricks

So the rest of you better get cracking, I want to see some entries!   crackthewhip

I'm overloaded at work too! And that does not include the grass and weeds growing. I've an idea, but time and energy is on the short side.

Jewelry contest???????????????  That's new!  I LOVE IT!!!

Yup!  Aaron started this last month, he's holding them each for a period of one month so we have time to make the pieces knowing that putting together a piece of jewelry can take a lot longer than whipping up a cab...

Oh and if anyone wants to donate to the prizes for these contests, Aaron is open to suggestions and donations.

I'm entering a jewelry project I finished tonight with a cab I cabbed a few days ago. I'm a slow smithy and could have a meltdown at anytime so I started today a 4:00pn and finished tonight at 10:00pm. I needed a present for the Wife for Mother's Day so I couldn't wait any longer to begin.

I'm no artist but I do sketch something out before hand  to keep me on target, who knows I could have a senior moment and it would be baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

I cut my base plate out of some 22gauge argentium silver. For this project I'm using all argentium silver and solder except for the scalloped bezel which is 99.9 silver. Mistake #1, I stamped the back and soldered the bezel to wrong side so I stamped the back again.

Now for the trial cab fit, I use dental floss so I can remove the cab after trial fit. It fits thank goodness.

I soldered the 18 gauge wire semicircles. I wound on a drill bit into a coil and cut to the plus side of a semicircle, (duh).
While it was pickeling I fabbed the bail and the eye to be soldered to back plate.

I stamped it with a 1/32" nail set between the semicircles and a 1/16" nail set inside of them. I trimed the outside shape.

I soldered the bail eye to the back after I had ground and filed the outside perimeter set the stone and started the polishing process and walla!!!!!  as planned......... finshed.......

Washed and ready to be boxed and wrapped.

Don

PS. I'm famished I didn't have any supper tonight either. I need to get busy more often and I might loose some weight.. dunno

Wow Don, excellent work, as always.  hatsoff

Somehow I adore the color of your cab in the first picture.
Those colors seem soooo much better than at the KCC.
I think you should cut it out and post at the KCC.
