Here's my entry. I don't know what this material is (advise, guesses - anything would be appreciated).

If it helps any I call this 'Dome Crossing', as the effect (which I was not able to really capture well via camera) is simply doming in one direction and then crossing it with a dome in the other direction.

It's finished on both sides the same - if you want to see more pictures hit my Flickr page (see the URL in my sig).

ROUGH - It has a lot of characteristics of a porcelain jasper and looks as if it may have come from a thundereg  dunno

PREFORM - ROUGH

PREFORM - FINISHED

FINI - This baby took a shine like nobody's business - I love this rock!

FINI - This is the same side that's showing in the preform...

FINI - You can almost make out the crossing domes in this picture

This is my favorite piece of my own to date - Came out exactly as I'd anticipated.

I certainly agree with Sara, that's a fantastic color. Easy to get lost in.

Like the shape, but more than anything, I love your dome.  yes

I have two guesses based on the coloration and patterns in the stone.  Imperial Jasper from Mexico, or some really green Morrisonite as it appears to have at least one or two streamers in there.

Frank, cool killer cab! Am guessing Imperial, as it has that peculiar color combination of green and fleshy pink look. We have a few pieces of rough that have that look and Charlotte just loves it. But then again? Killer shine!

Very good skill to cab and polished perfectly, I almost sure that is an imperial jasper but vever heared they could come from thunder egg, as I know those material usually was banded by calcite.

Great amazing job you did      hatsoff

I should have mentioned - it's quite hard - upper end of the agate range on the mohs, was difficult to cut from the rough and took longer than I'm used to to grind. The dark color is black as black gets. It does not fracture or break easily (which made it nice to work with - dropped it once from 4+ feet and thought 'game over' - it just bounced a few times on the hard floor). The thunderegg idea was just based on the shape in the matrix (one arm-like part of a potential star pattern) but there's not enough to really go on so that's all it is - a very loose theory and quite possibly wrong. After reading the responses thus far (THANK YOU by the way!) I have seen at least one or two pictures of both Imperial and Morrisonite that look similar - more so the Imperial, but couldn't find a picture of this color with matrix still attached. So...? Oh, the closest thing I've worked with that took such an easy (and highly wet looking)  shine and just refused to orange-peel on me (which is another sweet attribute) was Bruneau jasper (though I've never seen that in this color before myself). Thanks again for all the encouragement!!

Very nice Frank.  I would have to agree with Morrisonite and Imperial Jasper, and also add Blue Mountain Jasper, 3 of the porcelain jaspers which means hard and takes a great polish

Based on the rough itself with the attached matrix, my guess is that it's morrisonite. Awesome !!!

I agree with Mark...mostly....
I'm guessing Morrisonite as well. I originally thought Blue Mountain, but the bit of matrix on the original slab doesn't match any I've seen on either Blue Mountain (which I buy every year at Quartzsite from Kop) or Imperial.  It does look like matrix rock I have seen on slabs of both Morrisonite and Carrisite...so...

Based on the rough itself with the attached matrix, my guess is that it's morrisonite. Awesome !!!

I agree!

Beautiful cab!! yes

Lovely cab, you gave it an almost faceted cut with those sharp edges -  really works for this stome.  I find imperial jasper not to be as hard as you described and I have never seen it that deep of a shade, even though at first I did think of imperial jasper.
