For new members not familiar with how these contests work.

We include a pic of the original slab, then a pic of the preform, and finally, the finished cab.

Please try to remember at least a pic or two of the original slab and or preform..

Feel free to share with us what ever you like about the mineral, and or what ever else you would like to share.

You can enter any shape cab and your choice of mineral.

Remember, this is all in fun. Just a little something we do together as a group. Sure, there is a cheesy slab that goes to the winner, but it is much more about just joining as a group, and having some fun.

Remember that cabs posted here are only for the contest.

Post any others in a separate thread within the "Share Our Finished Cabs" board.  Smiley

Don't forget to cast a vote for the last contest !

Winning Rhodonite slabs for the winner !  Smiley

Guess I'll lead off instead of waiting. Hope I can get all three pics to show at once. This a piece of agate with marcasite. There are areas on the rough that almost look like fire agate. Got the rough in a bucket of end cuts for $8-10.

Beautiful !

The lighting for what ever reason is adding a green color to the silver colored Marcisite plume. Looks a bit similar to the Nipomo agate with Marcisite.

Yes George, Have been having problems with the coloring. Once I get the outside pictures adjusted with the brightness, things should get better. My walking stick pics turned out fine, just turning the camera on, but when I go to macro, funny colors. Inside, I don't have the adjustment for tungsten or flourecent lighting, so everything turns orangish. Will eventually get it right.
The second pic is actually close to how it looks held up to the sunlight.

The cab really is beautiful.  I wire wrapped it last night with gold because in the sun it highlights more gold than silver.  He hid that slab from me until he had finished the cab and then was walking around all sneaky until he had the pictures taken.

What Charlotte didn't say, was that she has the other corner of the slab. So who was being sneaky?

Dave,
That's a fantastic stone.  As I look at pic #2 I get all confused trying decide what color it is I just keep changing my mind about it.

Dave, I love the cab.  Between that and George's Nipomo Marcasite cab, I am gonna have to cab some of that stuff.  I may even have some in one of my dozens of boxes.  The question is just where?  I like each pic and the different colors due to the lighting.

Mark, Thanks for the encouragement. This stuff on the grinding wheels threw off nasty black, brown and green sludge, but took a good polish.
Here is that close up, backlit shot I took today. Did not know we could add an extra post.

I've only been drinking only water and I can see such strange things in that cab it's so neat.  I wonder if this is what Mark's home planet looks like?  Grin

My house is over on the right side next to the power plant, that bright yellow glow.  Makes it hard to sleep, that why i spend most of my time here on Earth, lots of darkness.
