Well, already wasting my first post, now I've decided to use my second to post my introduction; Hi everyone! I'm from the east coast... still in high school. I got into jewelry making a couple years ago and now I facet, cab, and cast. (To be honest I enjoy the casting ). I'm actually quite excited to be on this forum.

Welcome Stone Weevil and you got lots of natural talent from what I am seeing with your Rubellite. Do you like to go collect in your area too?

Welcome. Starting young is a real advantage. That much more time to experiment and learn. Most of us don't start till much, much, much later in life........noone take offense, I speak for myself

Hi Stoneweevil. Welcome from Tucson!! I started in highschool too, 47 years ago! I went to a rock club meeting back in Vermont and I was hooked. Its been a life's journey, so far. I got my gemology degree and I am still in the jewelry industry. Now, I am cutting cabs too! Where are you back east? Hope to see some of your work. Ajo/Eric.

Welcome to the forum. I'm from the east coast too. My area of the North East doesn't have any lapidary type rocks to collect, so next summer i am going back to Maine and spending at least 2 day looking for Tourmaline and Beryl. Its great that you are starting now, you have so much time to practice and experiment and try so many different things.

Welcome from another East Coaster. I'm in Ga and am close to some reasonably good gemstone collecting areas, just don't have the time these days to go out and look. It's on my 'to do' list though.
