Hi everyone.  My wife has a satin cord that she wants to use for a necklace, and has purchased two 14k gold endcaps for the cord.  The size of the endcap hole is 2.2mm, the cord is 2mm.  They are not getting along.  The only way she's been able to get the cord into the endcap is to wrap the very end of the cord with scotch tape.
While this works, I have a few questions about it before we continue

1. Will the tape affect how well the crimp holds?
2. How should we go about crimping the endcaps onto the wire?  Pliers and cloth?  or is there a special technique for gold?

Wish I could help you on this one..

I would not think the tape would be a best choice.. I am sure someone will have an answer for you though !

Is it just satin cord or is it satin cord covered wire? Must the caps be crimped? Since they are 14k, the less you mess with them the better they'll look.

Use jeweler's glue on the very tip and let dry. Remove the tape and lightly apply again. Insert into the endcap but do not crimp. Wipe excess glue & let it set overnight. Post photo.   Wink
