Shain, Prior to seeing your suggestion for using the Obsidian as a colored background I hadn't even thought of using it for this purpose! Thank you for the ideas that you have triggered! Bob

Playing around somemore I finished face polishing this one today. I'm getting close to having the piece that I want for the tutorial. I was digging through some pieces that I had face polished a couple years ago and I came across this one that I had forgotten about. It is a piece that has a floating ribbon pattern. Here are three views of it. I think this one is actually my favorite. It is one of a kind and it is the only one of this type that I have ever seen. bob

That is the neatest Obsidian I've ever seen and your lucky just to be able to go out and pick it up.

It may be my strange way of seeing things but numbers 2 and 3 could be an Edvard Munch painting. They are very different and beautiful.

Actually, those last shots look as if the Northern lights have been captured in the obsidian. Paula

I love that blue but even to my uneduated eyes it does not look like the physical make up of obsidian. Bob is there any kind of stone that you dont have? Its like you have one of each stone ever found by man:) I love it and I am so in awe of your collection:)

Sare, Even though I have been collecting rocks for many decades I hardly have one of each kind. Perhaps 1/100th of all those rocks? Bob

I am kinda new to this, but I practiced cabbing on some nice slag glass, blues and greens , turned out nice. My suggestion is this...melt it...if it melts its glass if it shatters or such ...its not
