I ran into this today..... This is Carrasite. This material is being mined from a new deposit at new and very deep depths. The result is this material with uniquely vivid colors and patterns. Carrasite is a porcelain type jasper. He won't part with less than 5 pounds at a time. 20 a pound. I just can't swing it, but wanted to share a pic of it. This would really make some beautiful cabs.

I have seen this picture some place before. If it is from where I think it is you would be hard pressed to get material that looks like that for $20lb. I think if you look at The Gem Shop website (wholesale) it is less.

I wonder what the difference is. The first link and picture I posted talked about how it was from the Denver area. This link to the Gem shop says theirs is from Oregon.
I will see if I can get a pic from the Gem Shop.

I have never heard of it being in Denver. The deposit is in Oregon.

Ya know what Seth? I went back and read it again. I was mistaken. It does not mention Denver at all. Sorry about that. So I am sure your absolutely correct.
