Wow......I think George is trying toGet us to think about what we are doing with this one..........Just getting to the point of starting has been 1 heck of an excercise for me. I am  inundated with abstract thoughts of form and symmetry, elements of design, pattern recognition. Man and His Symbols (Jung) and even Mick Donolds arches............Anyway...I've decided to continue with the Fancy Jasper posted here:
http://gemstone.smfforfree4.com/index.php/topic,1503.0.html
I want tosee how this abbreviated piece evolves. I am working on it today. Here are my first pics and I will add to this post as things progress............Bob

Pre form added..........

Here it is! Sure is a harder to finish with a dremel................

Well things are finally getting back to normal around here and I actually had time to do a few cabs and thought I would enter this one on here. It was sold to me as Burro Creek Agate. The rough slab reminds me of a backbone (Forgot to take a Pic of it) It is quite a large one at 3-3/8" long.

Do you have a pic of the slab it came from?

I did not know there was a Burro Creek agate.

Geroge,

I will try to get a pic of the slab it came from in the next day or two.

Also if you go on Ebay and do a search for Burro Creek Agate there is some on there now. I got mine from endlesscircle.

I notice you have quite a few druzy pendants on your site. Do you have a favorite source for rough? Also had someone ask about a good source to purchase druzy cabs from. Hopefully without having to pay an arm and leg  Smiley

George,

I normally buy geode halfs and cut them as I see fit to get the desired shape ect. I have only bought a few pieces of actual drusy rough. The last rock and mineral show I went to I picked up a  flat and a half of brazilian geode halfs and some nice dugway geodes with some drusy pockets. Below is a pic of a Dugway geode conter that was solid drusy crystals.

Brad - I really like that finished cab.  You know it's funny but I think we tend to buy what we're attracted to rough wise.  I would never have thought of buying that rough, wouldn't have interested me in the slightest, but I have to say - love that cab.  It has a very Japanese feel to it.  You guys are making me re-think my rough purchases - gotta start thinking outta the box!
