For new members not familiar with how these contests work.

Entires are cabs only. Completed during this two week contest period. Not cabs pulled from the drawer.

We include a pic of the original slab, then a pic of the preform, and finally, the finished cab.

Please try to remember at least a pic or two of the original slab and or preform..

Feel free to share with us what ever you like about the mineral, and or what ever else you would like to share.

You can enter any shape cab and your choice of mineral.

Things like intarsias, jewelry, and composite type cabs can not be entered in an effort to keep the contest somewhat fair by just entering free form style cabs.  :)

Remember, this is all in fun.   yes  Just a little something we do together as a group. More about just joining in, and having some fun.

Cabs posted here are only for the contest.

Sorry Guys but I have to back off the forum for a while. I am just super busy and our show is in 2 weeks with lots to do and lots to get ready for.
You will start to hear more from me after May 6th.
I just kind of feel guilty if I don't communicate, this way you know why.

Everyone enjoy

Striking composition.  Like a confident stroke of a sumi brush on watercolor paper.

I love the great simplicity. Good job capturing the dendrite. I also like the clear agate that it floats in. Very nice!  yes Eric.

Ok... Mark, our beloved Global Moderator, said it was ok for me to enter this.  I purchased the slab in March, preformed it, set it aside for quite awhile and just finally finished it.  He said that because it was finished just recently that it's ok to enter.  I posted this in the cab forum first because I didn't think I could enter it since I preformed it a month ago...  If it's a no go then disqualify me be all means!!!!!!!

Well, at Kurt's request to enter and Mark saying to go ahead and enter then... well... OK then!

Here is the slab:

No preform pictures as you can plainly see.... it came to me basically preformed already!

Mark let me know that my stone was just a little bit more than Sugilite!  Here is a quote of what he told me:
Quote
I believe your stone is more than just Sugilite.  Sugilite is often found with 2 other related minerals that are also very beautiful and maybe even rarer as i hardly ever see them.  The purple is Sugilite, blue is Richterite, and orange to brownish is Bustamite.  Your stone looks to have at least, Sugilite and Richterite and maybe a tiny tad of Bustamite.

 toocool2

Here is the cab, it is 2.25 inches tall, a biggun, but I didn't want to waste expensive material!

Thanks for taking some of your time to look at some of mine!
